Your piece makes a hugely important point -- but I have to say I found the title kind of hurtful. I know it sounds defensive coming from someone with the inborn privilege of being white in America, but I've cared about the horrifying maternal death rate among Black women in this country since long, long before Covid. Have I moved the needle on it in any way, though? No. And that's a shame. Hence the hurt.
