Unforgettable is the word for this book. I've read some stellar memoirs, but I think The Glass Castle outshines them all. It's stunning — and I'm stunned in a different sense to learn that some pea-brained parents want to "protect" their high schoolers from reading it. Of course, we now live in a world where some parents want to ban "The Story of Ferdinand" because they've somehow cranked their brains around to fear that it will turn little kids gay.
