This is the position I've mostly been in with both of my sisters, one of whom has Alzheimer's (as does her husband) and one of whom just died from a rare neuro disease, corticobasal syndrome, that may be a variant of Lewey body. In both cases it's their sons who have had to be the ones on the front lines, while in the middle of their own lives, businesses, families, etc. You don't mention a sense of helplessness or guilt that can come from being at a distance, and I hope that means you don't suffer from either of those. I try not to, but it does seem to be part of the whole package of big and confusing feelings that come from seeing loved ones go through this. Sending good thoughts.
