Oy. I spent nine years on my small SoCal satellite suburb's city council, including two terms as Mayor. It was wearying in the extreme at many points -- but that was in the years before social media helped weaponize public discourse. Don't know if I could have stuck it out in the current climate -- so hats off to you, Jane!
