One of the great and unsung pleasures of Medium is making connections with readers and commenters who we'd never otherwise run across in our entire lives. As for my personal metric: if I reread a story I wrote long enough ago that I've sort of forgotten about it, and it makes me smile or have the reaction that I hoped a reader would have — then I call that a win.
