I've never had a flight attendant explain the additional expectations beyond just getting damn door open (which I've always assumed that, if the circumstances arise in which I need to, I'll have so much adrenaline coursing through my system that wrenching the door off its hinges and heaving it into the blue yonder won't be a problem). So good for that attendant. It's difficult to predict what we'll do in a real emergency, but like one of your FB friends, I tend to get bossy and managerial in a crisis so I suspect I'd stick around and make sure people got out. Until there was fire.
