It's absolutely horrible that this happened to you — and at that time and in those circumstances I am quite sure I would have responded the same way. Hostility like that misogynist comedian's is always a shock, and in that situation he had all the ammo. Jerks (to put it mildly) count on other people to be decent, and the one of the worst damage they do is to make good people doubt themselves. Ugh.
