I'm a former middle school teacher, plus a parent, plus (of course) a former student. I think a no-homework policy would be a huge benefit to all of those stakeholders. If students need to practice a skill, time for that should be built into classes or labs during the school day. The one exception might be reading — although I'd rather see students reading for pleasure, even if it's incentivized. And YES, most tweens and teens need more sleep than their schedules allow!
