I'll argue that both men and women are trapped by the simultaneous hyper-sexualization and shaming of women's bodies. Many men have no desire to be oppressive or beastly, but there is very little modeling for how they can express their admiration or desire for a woman without objectifying her. Many women have no wish or intention to use their physical appearance in a manipulative or transactional way, but are often misinterpreted and judged (by all genders). It's a lose-lose game.
