I hear you. In our culture we don’t understand very well about receiving. But the coffee thing . . . maybe it’s my sinful pride: in my heart of hearts I want to think my writing is worth more than a coffee, and if I’m not going to be paid decently for it I’d rather give it away. Very curmudgeonly of me!
