It's a challenge for some straight men (wonderful exceptions, like my husband, do exist) to get their heads around the fact that women often enjoy self-expression and self-adornment quite without concern for the "male gaze." I've been told by one or two men of that ilk that they'd prefer it if I didn't wear makeup. My answer: I'd prefer it if they did.
