Having been in The Biz and for decades considering myself (and having my opinion confirmed by agents, casting directors, etc.) that I was pretty but not beautiful and needed to try harder --- the fixation on appearance for women is a trap laid for us by cultural conditioning for thousands of years. It's not our fault, but we're the only ones who can free ourselves.
