Agreed: the most powerful stories (personal essays, let's say, since that's most of what I see and read on Medium) are those that hit that magical spot that creates catharsis for the writer and connection, illumination, or a good emotional wallop for the reader. I post once a week here, simply to stay engaged and to train my brain to respect deadlines, and sometimes that happens for me, and sometimes it doesn't. But it's gold when it does, and I really don't care that much about the stats.
